Inside the Apex court tile
A tour of the tile every Outdoor Sport Courts court is built from — playing surface, cushioning, drainage, interlock and anchoring, explained part by part.

Every court we sell — from a driveway shoot-around to a full-size court — is built from the same precision-moulded interlocking tile. It measures 305 mm × 305 mm (exactly one square foot), so every court is whole tiles with no cutting. Here's what's going on inside it.
The playing surface
The top is an anti-slip textured surface engineered for sport: confident grip for stops, starts and steering — even in the wet. The surface is suspended with lateral forgiveness built into the joints, which takes the edge off quick direction changes compared to playing on raw concrete.

Built-in cushioning
Under the surface sit silicone cushions that absorb impact while keeping the ball response true — 93% ball rebound, with noticeably less load on knees and joints than concrete. It's the difference between a surface you play on and a surface you can play on for hours.

The open, free-draining base
The tile stands on an elevated lattice that lets water run straight through to the slab below. No puddles, no sweeping water off the court — it's playable again minutes after rain. More in Rain, sun & drainage.

Interlock & anchoring
Tiles snap together by hand — no glue, no setting time. Bevelled edge and corner ramps clip around the perimeter for a finished, trip-free border. And a hidden centre cap on every tile reveals an anchor point: the included anchors lock the whole court down, so it can't shift sideways and can't be lifted.
Anchoring is optional, and that is what makes the court portable. The tiles lock to each other, not to the ground. Anchor a backyard court and it stays put for good. Leave one un-anchored and it can be lifted, moved and relaid — which is why the same court works for events, hire fleets, schools, clubs and pop-ups, and why you can take a home court with you if you move house.
